Why most people take two: the plastic wears. One buyer of another brand put it plainly, "the screw that holds the top and bottom together has stripped". A spare means one bad night does not put you back to square one.
When you are awake, your jaw is held forward by muscle. When you fall asleep, that muscle lets go and your jaw slides back.
Your tongue is attached to your jaw, so your tongue slides back too. Now the space at the back of your throat is narrow.
The same amount of air still has to get through that narrow space, so it has to speed up. Fast air makes the soft tissue back there flap, the way a flag flaps in the wind. The flapping is the sound. That is the snore.
HonmoonSleep holds your lower jaw a few millimetres forward while you sleep. Your tongue comes forward with it, the space stops being narrow, the air slows down and the flag stops flapping.
4mm
That is about the thickness of two stacked coins. It sits on your teeth, not across the roof of your mouth, so there is nothing at the back to set off your gag reflex.
That is a real review of another brand, and it is the main reason people stop wearing these. HonmoonSleep is 4 mm thin and moulded to your own teeth, so it holds itself in place instead of filling your mouth.
Nothing sits at the back of your mouth or across your palate. The device only covers your teeth. If you can tolerate a dental retainer, you can tolerate this.
Any mouthpiece that holds your jaw forward can, over months, cause small tooth movement or bite changes. That is true of every device in this category, including the expensive ones. Check your bite each month, and stop and see your dentist if it changes.
It is moulded to your own teeth, so it grips them. If it works loose, you can soften it in hot water and take the mould again.
First week
An honest note about the first week. Night one feels strange, and you will notice it. By night three or four most people stop noticing it. If your jaw feels tired in the morning at first, that is normal and it settles. If anything actually hurts, stop and email us.
Do not use this product, or speak to your dentist or doctor first, if any of these apply to you.
If anyone has told you that you stop breathing, gasp or choke in your sleep, see a doctor. That needs a medical assessment, and this product is not one.
No dentist, no appointment, no impression kit posted back and forth.
Got it wrong? Soften it again and take the mould again. You can refit it as many times as you need.
Nobody else tells you this part, so people quit on night two and never find out whether it worked.
Night 1
It feels like something is in your mouth
Because something is. The first night is the strangest one. Put it in, turn the light off and let it be odd.
Morning 2
Your mouth settles
You may make more saliva than usual and your jaw may feel tired in the morning. Both settle. Keep going.
Re-moulding in hot water
You find your fit
If it feels loose, refit it in hot water. If your jaw aches, ease the setting back. This is the week where you get it right.
Night 14
You stop noticing it
You may find the mouthpiece easier to wear after the first week. By night 14 it is part of going to bed.
Been using this for about six weeks now. Started at 1mm like the instructions suggested and bumped it up every few nights.

What I like about this one is the moldable fit combined with the little adjustment wheel.
Michelle D.
My partner has commented that the bedroom is noticeably quieter at night.
Maria koob
The adjustable design makes it easy to customize the fit, allowing you to find a comfortable setting that works best for all-night wear.

The mouth guard feels sturdy, and the BPA-free material is smooth around the gums.
Eris
It does not feel overly intrusive while sleeping, and I do not experience noticeable discomfort when I wake up in the morning.
Jane
Getting the fit right took me a couple of tries, but once adjusted, it stayed in place better than I expected.
Amazon Customer
My husband says the snoring is noticeably quieter, which was the whole point.

These are short excerpts from verified customer reviews of the HonmoonSleep mouthpiece. Amazon shows 5 stars for each review below. Individual results may differ.
Your jaw may feel tired for the first few mornings, the way it does after a long dental appointment. That settles within a week for most people. It should not hurt. If it does, ease the fit back, and if it still hurts, stop and email us.
Nothing sits at the back of your mouth or across the roof of it. The device covers your teeth only. If you can wear a dental retainer, you can wear this.
Nights one to three feel strange and you may make more saliva than usual. Nights four to seven are when you get the fit right. By the second week most people forget it is there. We set this out night by night on the page above, because people who know what to expect do not quit on night two.
4 mm, which is about two stacked coins. Bulk is the single most common reason people abandon a mouthpiece, so this is the number we design around.
No. HonmoonSleep is not a treatment for sleep apnoea and it is not a medical device for any breathing disorder. If anyone has told you that you stop breathing, gasp or choke in your sleep, or if you fall asleep during the day, see a doctor and ask about a sleep study.
Do not use it, or speak to your dentist or doctor first, if you have loose teeth, gum disease, recent dental work such as implants or crowns, full dentures, a diagnosed jaw joint problem such as TMJ or TMD, diagnosed central sleep apnoea, a severe breathing condition such as severe asthma, or if you are under 18.
Any mouthpiece that holds the jaw forward can cause small tooth movement or bite changes over months. That is true of every device of this type, at every price. Check your bite once a month, and see your dentist if it changes.
Soften it in hot water, bite down so your teeth press their shape into it, cool it in cold water, then wear it. It takes about five minutes and you do it at home.
Yes. Soften it again and take the mould again. There is no limit on how many times you can refit it.
It grips the shape of your own teeth, so it stays put. If it works loose over time, refit it.
Rinse it in cold water and brush it with a soft brush each morning, then let it dry in the case. Do not use boiling water on it after it is fitted, because that softens the mould.
With nightly use, plan to replace the mouthpiece about once a year.
We ship within the United States only, and shipping is free on orders over $50.
Yes. There is nothing on the outside of the parcel that says what is inside, and the sender name on the label is neutral.
Not with full dentures. With a partial denture, a retainer or braces, ask your dentist first, because the mouthpiece has to grip your own teeth to hold the mould.
